Early Life

Lindsey Caroline Kildow, better known as Lindsey Vonn, was born Thursday, October 18, 1984, in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

It was in Burnsville, Minnesota, where this Olympic star was raised.

She is the daughter of Alan Kildow and Linda Krohn.

Vonn has four siblings Karin Kildow, Dylan Kildow, Reed Kildow, and Laura Kildow.

At the age of two, Lindsey began skiing in a ski and snowboard area known as Buck Hill.

Erich Sailer, her dad’s former coach, and US Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame selectee, was in charge of teaching this talented little girl her first ski lessons.

When Lindsey was nine years old, she had the privilege to meet Picabo Street, an Olympic gold medalist ski racer.

After this encounter, Street became Vonn’s mentor in skiing as well as her role model and hero.

As her ski career ascended, she moved to Vail, Colorado, where her family relocated in the late 1990s.

Due to her intense skiing practice, Vonn entered an online program at the University of Missouri High School, where she learned to speak German fluently.

Marriage

On September 29, 2007, Lindsey married Thomas Vonn at a terrific gathering in Liver Lake Lodge in Deer Valley.

Thomas Vonn is a 2002 Olympian and former US Ski Team sportsman.

Unfortunately, the marriage lasted only four years.

But it was until January 9, 2013, that the divorce was finally concluded.

Lindsey is now engaged with NHL defenseman PK Subban.

In 2020, she and Vonn purchased a beautiful and sophisticated condo in Beverly Hills for approximately $6.75 million.

Sadly, on December 29, 2020, Lindsey and PK Subban ended their engagement.

After three years of time together, Vonn stated that they have decided to move forward separately.

This statement was published on her official Instagram account.

The hockey defenseman declared something similar by communicating to his followers that he will always treasure the incredible time they had together.

Career

Even though Lindsey started skiing at an early age, her first big success came at the age of 15 when she won first place at Trofeo Topolino in Italy.

At only 16 years old, she became part of the US Ski Team, going to her first World Cup.

It was in Salt Lake City in 2002 at 17 years where she competed in her first Olympics by racing in the slalom and combined competition.

One year later, in March at Puy-Saint-Vincent, France, she won a silver medal in the Junior World Championship.

Lindsey won third place in the World Cup 2004 at Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, competing downhill and standing on the podium for the first time.

Despite her success, her career was highly impacted at the second Winter Olympics in 2006, in Italy, where Lindsey was hospitalized after a crash in the second training run.

Even though she didn’t win a medal that year, she was awarded the US Olympic Spirit Award for her bravery and determination to compete through pain.

One of Lindsey’s most outstanding achievements occurred in 2008 when she won the overall World Cup title, becoming the second American to do it.

Also, on March 8, she accomplished ten downhill victories in Switzerland’s World Cup.

For her extraordinary victories, the Laureus World Sports Awards honored her in 2010 as the Sportswoman of the Year.

She competed and won the downhill gold medal at the Vancouver Winter Olympics.

Injuries

After many years of hard training and challenging competitions, Lindsey could not complete the World Cup circuit in 2013.

Due to her multiple injuries, she didn’t compete in the 2014 World Cup.

However, she ended the year by winning the downhill race in Alberta, Canada’s women’s World Cup.

Lindsey made a miraculous comeback in 2015 at Meribel, France, by claiming her seventh title in the World Cup downhill race.

In 2016 she could not compete due to a severe accident that left her right arm with multiple fractures.

She achieved seventy-seven wins in January 2017 in the World Cup, and in 2018 she placed third in the Winter Olympics in South Korea by competing in the women’s downhill race.

At 34 at the World Championship, Lindsey retired after winning a bronze medal in the women’s downhill competition. At this age, she is the oldest woman to win an award at a world tournament.

Source of Income

Lindsey Vonn has amassed her great fortune primarily as a professional skier.

During the course of her career, she has pocked important sums of money following her many championships and wins.

Lindsey also received sponsorships and endorsement contacts with luxurious and popular brands like Hershey, Under Armor, Red Bull, and Rolex.

She also has several real estate investments as Lindsey has bought several houses in Vail, West Hollywood, and Sherman Oaks in California.

Other sources of income include royalties for writing two best-selling books: Strong is the New Beautiful and Rise: My Story.

Lindsey has also worked as an actor and has appeared in several TV series, programs, and reality shows.

It’s not shocking that Lindsey Vonn has accumulated a substantial new worth with that many skiing wins, sponsorships, endorsements, acting jobs, and more.

There’s no dispute that Lindsey is one of the best and most gifted skiers worldwide.

She will remain throughout history as a role model for new ski generations.
