About The Most Expensive Lamborghini

The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster is the most expensive Lamborghini sold among the street-legal versions.

Here is the beautiful machine:

Release In 2013

It’s a street-legal racer that first hit the automotive scene back in 2014 and fetches a good amount of money if you want to put your hands on one.

The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster tops the list as the most expensive production Lamborghini in the world.

The Veneno model was first unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in celebration of Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary.

Initial Price

At the time, the Lamborghini Veneno had a lofty price tag of $4.5 million USD.

The Veneno Roadster followed suit in 2014 with its ‘open top’ design, discerning it from its coupe predecessor.

The name ‘Veneno’ heralds from a famous fighting bull, described as ‘one of the strongest and most aggressive’ and ‘fastest’ in bullfighting history.

This gives you a sense of the intention behind the Lamborghini Veneno.

The Veneno was based on Lamborghini’s Aventador model that had graced the global car stage earlier in 2011.

Inspiration for the Veneno was drawn from the world of racing cars, with the goal to bring to life “a race car prototype approved for road use”

Current Price

If you’re looking to get your hands on a Lamborghini Veneno Roadster these days, you could be looking to pay as much as $8.3 million USD as indicated the most recent sale of a model.

With a limited production of only nine since its inception in 2014, the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster has seen some serious appreciation, hailing as one of Lamborghini’s rarest models.

Most Expensive Lamborghini Design

The design behind the Lamborghini Veneno stemmed from the desire to build a race car for the road.

The model is reminiscent of a modern Le Mans race car and features razor-sharp lines and sleek surfaces.

In terms of innovation, you’ll soon see that every design feature is purposeful and forward-thinking.

The front of the car was designed for maximum airflow and improved downforce with front and rear arches directing airflow to optimize the aerodynamics, a key element of the Veneno’s design.

The Veneno wheels act like turbines, engineered to direct the air for cooling the car’s carbon ceramic brake system.

The Y-shaped design elements of the Aventador are evident in the Veneno iteration, while the rear wheel arches are a nod to the Lamborghini Countach.

The Veneno is composed of a 100% carbon fiber monocoque chassis, aluminum front and rear, a pushrod suspension system, and horizontal spring/damper units.

The Veneno Roadster, as the ‘open top’ variant of the model, saw the roof replaced by a rollover bar for safety.

Given this, it has a dry weight of only 1490kg, 40kg lighter than the closed-top Veneno model.

The model also showcases innovative materials such as its lightweight woven carbon fiber, ‘CarbonSkin’, used to clad the interior.

Inside the cabin, two lightweight bucket seats are made from Lamborghini’s patented Forged Composite material.

Most Expensive Lamborghini Features

The engine in the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster was based on the 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 of the Aventador LP700-4 model, generating 552kW (740hp) at 8,400 rpm and 690 Nm (507 lb.-ft.) of torque at 5,500 rpm.

The increase in horsepower was thanks to enlarged air intakes and a modified exhaust system, a step up from the Aventador model.

The Veneno can hit top speeds of 355 km/h (220.5 mph) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in an impressive 2.8 seconds.

At speeds like that, the model can produce up to 1.41G while cornering.

With this in mind, the Veneno has been optimized for high-speed cornering stability.

A 7-speed, single-clutch automated ISR transmission means shifts are super quick.

The Veneno also offers five driving modes, including a ‘Corsa’ setting for improved performance on the racetrack; a feature closely aligned with the ambition to produce a ‘street legal racing prototype’.

About The Manufacturer

Automobili Lamborghini is an iconic Italian luxury sports car manufacturer.

Founded in 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini, Lamborghini has pushed the limits of design and technology in their cars for decades.

Ferrucio Lamborghini was eternally driven to develop the perfect sports car; with this at the brands core, the automotive producer has continued to innovate in the engine development space.

Today, Lamborghini produces a variety of modern supercars.

The current line-up in production includes the V12-powered Aventador and the V10-powered Huracán, the Urus Super Sport Utility Vehicle and a number of limited series models, like the Sian and Countach.

So there you have it folks!

The Veneno is a beautiful meeting of innovative aerodynamic design and exceptional performance.

The Veneno Roadster open-top model took the original coupe design to new heights, pushing the limits as only Lamborghini can.

Here’s an overview of the need to know:

  • Model: Lamborghini Veneno Roadster
  • Production: 2014-2015 (9 units)
  • Engine: 6.5L naturally aspirated V12
  • Power: 552kW (740 horsepower) at 8,400 rpm
  • Torque: 690 Nm (507 lb.-ft.) at 5,500 rpm
  • Top Speed: 355 km/h (220.5 mph)
  • Acceleration: 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.8 seconds
  • Power-to-Weight Ratio: 1.99 kg/hp (4.38 lbs/hp)

Owners of a Lamborghini Veneno Roadster are likely to sit at the upper echelons of the supercar collector ranks.

And, remembering that only nine of these exist in the world, the rarity of the Veneno Roadster will no doubt see it remain as one of the most expensive Lamborghini’s in the world.

Now that you know which Lamborghini is the most expensive one on the market, good luck with your research!
